Infrasturcture as-a-Service (IaaS) cloud computing offers computing,
networking, and storage resources automatically to users.  This automated
infrastructure management allows users to focus on what is important to them
instead of dealing with the intricacies of infrastructure management.  Given
the difficulty of securing systems, can we offer a similar service for securing
those systems?

I will present a technique for ensuring the security of Virtual Machines (VMs)
in a VM-based IaaS cloud.  We combine hook-based VM monitoring and
emulator-based dynamic analysis to provide on-demand security monitoring for
the guest Operating System (OS) in those IaaS VMs.  VM monitoring is isolated
from attacks in the guest OS and the monitoring framework is runtime
adaptable it can be used to provide reliability and security monitoring
as-a-Service to VMs in a cloud.
