Presentations for MATH 6980-16, covering Chapter II of Thom's famous 1954 paper on cobordism.  Click "More info" to download.

Question:  When is a homology class represented by a submanifold?

Professor Khan concludes the seminar.  We show how the mod-2 cohomological algebra creatively developed by René Thom can now be applied to determine the Postnikov 2k-type of the unoriented Thom space MO(k).  This leads to an answer to the Seminar Question up to the middle dimension with Z/2 coefficients.

For continuity, here is a link to the previous talk.
