Topology is known for its reasoning about qualitative features of spaces, and as a subject, it contains many nonconstructive existence proofs.  A movie was made of one of these: Smale's theorem that the 2-sphere can be turned inside out.  I will describe some progress towards understanding what the complexity of some of the other objects and maps that we have never yet seen.
