Regular Division of the Plane Drawings

Over the course of his career, Escher filled five folio notebooks with sketches of periodic tessellations. These were not intended for public consumption, but instead sources of ideas and design patterns he would use in creating his finished graphic works.

Escher numbered his sketches, from 1 to 137. Most of these sketches are available at Regular Division of the Plane Drawings
