Objective: Explore impossible objects in Escher's work.
- Go to the official Escher website [www.mcescher.com]. Go to “Downloads”. Look at the MPEG movies Belvedere, Waterfall, and Ascending and Descending. Write a short paragraph about how the movie explains each of the drawings.
- Go to “Gallery” on the same website. Look at “Back in Holland 1941 – 1954” and “Recognition and Success 1955-1972”. There are several prints that qualify as “impossible figures”. Identify them.
- There are also several prints that are about the difference between 2- and 3-dimensional object. Identify some of these.
